Estudo realizado por ESSS e Magneti Marelli Cofap é publicado na ANSYS Advantage

In order to improve the valve design for automotive shock absorbers, reduce the project time and obtain a better understanding of hydraulic fluid flow, engineers from Magneti Marelli Cofap and ESSS developed a computational model of the shock absorber for the low-velocity condition. The study was conducted to obtain a better understanding of the flow physics that occur in the valve, to evaluate dispersion of forces at the disks and to compare the results against experimental data. To evaluate the flow pattern and measure the forces, the engineering team used the software ANSYS CFX. A computational mesh consisting of tetrahedral and prisms elements containing 1 million nodes was generated. Simulation of the steady-state flow was performed using the k-epsilon turbulence model.
