Reservoir Engineering
Reservoir engineering deals with the planning and implementation of optimal hydrocarbon reserves development by gathering information from the other main areas such as Drilling, Geology, Geophysics, Petrophysics, Production Technology, to ultimately provide an integrated and reliable assessment of the field throughout its life, from its discovery and appraisal to its production and abandonment. Moreover, Reservoir Engineering should support field development planning, reservoir performance reporting, and production optimization.
ESSS develops custom simulation solutions for performing a variety of tasks associated with Reservoir Engineering workflows, thereby allowing increased productivity and trustworthy results.

Reservoir data management and analysis
Gain in-depth insights of your reservoir simulation data
ESSS’s proprietary software, Kraken, provides an agile solution to handle multiple reservoir simulation output types generated by various industry standard simulators. Kraken is a powerful post-processing tool with Python scripting capabilities which aid engineers to support field development decision making, efficiently perform reservoir performance analysis and reporting, and make crucial assessments regarding the reservoir management process, such as production and injection allocation, long-term development strategy, reserve optimization, and enhanced recovery planning.
Rock-Fluid and PVT analysis
Efficiently collect, manage and analyze your petrophysics and PVT lab data
Managing samples and laboratory equipment, producing meaningful laboratory results generated by different experiments and connecting these outputs in order to confidently describe the petrophysical and PVT behavior of the reservoir, can all be challenging and tedious tasks in a laboratory with a large number of samples, equipment and researchers. ESSS’s Rock & Fluid Data Analysis Program (RF-DAP) provides a single environment aimed at the optimization of the laboratory workflow.
Digital Rock Characterization
Use digital rock characterizations for rapid insights about the reservoir
PORE software, developed in partnership with Concremat and with the support of FINEP, creates digital models using rock tomographic images. These models contain a representation of the internal structures of the rock such as pores geometry, distribution and pore throats which are used to calculate rock pore volume, effective porosity, absolute permeability, estimate relative permeability and others rock-fluid properties.
Reservoir geochemistry
Simultaneously couple the flow simulation to the reservoir geochemical and microbiological dynamics
ESSS software, ResSSS, will be able to model the chemical reactions occurring in the reservoir and the equilibrium between the chemical species generated by geochemical and microbiological activity, coupling these results to the flow simulation. This capability can provide crucial information related to corrosive products generation such as H2S, rock permeability and porosity alterations, and scale deposition. Moreover, it will be able to model the transport, consumption and absorption of various chemical products at the pore scale, improving the behavior interpretation at the reservoir scale.
