Calculation of Equipment According to ASME Code Section VIII - Div. 1

  • Presential
  • Structural Analysis

This course is for engineers and designers who are able to perform process equipment calculations for the chemical and petrochemical industries according to ASME VIII, Division 1, 2013 edition.

The ASME VIII code, division 1, is used worldwide, including in Brazil , for the calculation of equipment subjected to pressure.

METHODOLOGY:

Intensive training with ESSS specialists.

PROGRAM:

1) General information: Pressure and temperature, other loads, corrosion and coating margin, classification of voltages and permissible.
2) Calculation of cylinders and tops under internal pressure: Calculation of cylinders, bulged tops, cones and flat covers.
3) Calculation of flanges and openings: Fabricated flanges, reverse flanges, flared tops with flanges, aperture reinforcement.
4) Case study - vessel under internal pressure.
5) Calculation for external pressure: Cylinders, reinforcing rings, bulged tops and cones, reinforcements in cylinder cone joints.
6) Calculation of jackets (shirts): Calculation of jackets, calculation of jacket type cane.
7) Case study - vessel under internal and external pressure.
8) Calculation of mirrors and other parts of heat exchangers: General information on heat exchangers, calculation of mirrors according to TEMA and ASME.
9) Case study - hull-and-tube exchanger.
10) Calculation of column-type vertical vessels: General explanations about columns, wind loads for vertical vessels, column vibration.
11) Case study - vertical vase type column.
12) Special calculations: Analysis of external stresses in nozzles, horizontal vessel saddles, vertical vessel supports.
