It aims to assist in the planning of drilling in salt areas by calculating the concentration of salt in the fluid phase.
The objective of the project is to seek advantages in the planning of drilling in salt zones by developing a fluid circulation simulator involved in a cementing or drilling operation, calculating the concentration of salt in the fluid phase.
The largest oil discoveries in Brazil were recently made by Petrobras in the pre-salt layer located between the states of Santa Catarina and Espírito Santo, where large volumes of light oil were found. The drilling of wells in salt areas is a major challenge for oil companies in Brazil and around the world.
However, such drilling can cause serious operational problems if not well designed, such as well break-in or break-in or fracture of the region above the salt zone, considerably raising costs for phase drilling. Thus, the prediction of the impact of the fluid used in the perforation of the saline region is of great value.
This simulation may allow a number of advantages in future drilling and cementing operations in the salt layer:
- Use of lower cost fluids;
- Allow the perforation of saline zones with higher penetration rate;
- Generation of lower volume of gravel and therefore smaller flow rates are required.
