The simulation of sedimentary basins deposition can help geologists and engineers to better understand the processes associated with the formation and evolution of the petroleum systems. Critical information such as the hydrocarbon generation period and the preferred paths for fluid flow can be obtained through the numerical modelling of geological processes in sedimentary basins.
Some of the benefits of the SimBR project are described below:
- Three-dimensional models able to capture the wide spatial variation of different properties;
- Three phase flux modelling considering alterations on the structural geological model;
- Simulation of salt deformation and geological discontinuities such as faults and fractures;
